A functional operator-based morphological analysis of Japanese
نویسنده
چکیده
A universal set of functional operators as proposed in Role and Reference Grammars can be used to provide a robust morphology analyser development scheme, which gives the developer of the analyser a clear guiding principle guaranteeing the exhaustiveness of his grammar from the inception of the development task, freeing him from the complex bookkeeping of continuation lexicons often associated with typical nite state lexical transducers. 1 Agglutinative morphology and its diiculties An agglutinative language is deened by Whaley 13] as \ language in which strings of morphemes occurring within a word are easily segmentable." In contrast with fusional languages such as Latin and Greek, morphemes in an ag-glutinative language are easier to identify because they carry independently identiiable semantic or grammatical meanings. As a result, one expects that morphological analysis of an agglutinative language like Japanese should not present much diiculty. But, from a viewpoint of natural language processing, analysis of agglutinative morphology involves many diiculties which might go unnoticed even by researchers in NLP. Yamashita & Matsumoto 12] discuss the problem of tokenization with regard to both segmented languages like English and unsegmented languages like Japanese. In Japanese orthography, a sentence consists of a string of letters with no spaces between words. So, the identiication of words, or tokenization, is a dual process of segmenting, which identiies single-morpheme segments, and rounding up, which identiies multi-lexeme segments. In order to achieve eeciency in the process, Yamashita & Matsumoto propose a character-oriented minimal unit, which they call MF (morpho-fragment). Unlike lexemes and morphemes, MFs are strictly character-based building blocks of a language. In the case of Japanese and Chinese, every single character is taken to constitute an MF. It is this kind of new level of abstraction which is involved in morphological analysis in general. Kimmo-type two-level lexical transducers are often used to analyse Japanese morphology as in Tateno 10]. In order to cope with an indeenite number of

Histological and Functional Alteration in the Liver and Kidney and the Response of Antioxidants in Japanese quail Exposed to Dietary Cadmium
Background: The aim of the present study was to find the effects of cadmium (Cd) on Japanese quail on the role of an animal model in order to understand the toxicity of Cd in creatures presented, within the environment. Methods: One hundred 30-day-old male Japanese quails were equally divided into the control group and Cd group. The control group received no Cd while the Cd group was given f...
متن کاملAssessing Genetic Diversity in Iranian Native Silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) Strains and Japanese Commercial Lines Using AFLP Markers
Three Iranian native strains and three Japanese commercial lines of the silkworm Bombyx mori were analyzed using amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers. A set of ten PstI/TaqI primer combinations amplified a total of 322 bands out of which 251 (%78) were polymorphic. Estimates of Nei’s gene diversity for all loci in individual strains and commercial lines indicated a higher degre...

This study was conducted to identify and recognize relations and diversity among accessions of the Iranianpears (Pyrus spp). A total of 34 pear accessions, derived presumably from at least six species, were subjected to simple sequence repeat (SSR) analysis. The Japanese and the Chinese pear samples were; “Housui” and “Yali” cultivars, example of Pyrus pyrifolia and P. bretschneideri, respectiv...
متن کاملA new method for the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability
We propose a new method, called the textit{the weighted space method}, for the study of the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability. We use this method for a nonlinear functional equation, for Volterra and Fredholm integral operators.

Some functional inequalities in variable exponent Lebesgue spaces are presented. The bi-weighted modular inequality with variable exponent $p(.)$ for the Hardy operator restricted to non- increasing function which is$$int_0^infty (frac{1}{x}int_0^x f(t)dt)^{p(x)}v(x)dxleqCint_0^infty f(x)^{p(x)}u(x)dx,$$ is studied. We show that the exponent $p(.)$ for which these modular ine...
